This week, we decided we can't really be asking all of the extenders to try and go for baptisms if we aren't getting some ourselves. So we changed up the focus a little bit this week and decided that we're going to focus on teaching. A LOT.
Well, i'd sure say we did it. We taught a ton, which was fun, and it really eliminated some of the monotony of the fishbowl. Let me tell you a little bit about our new investigators:
Leyda is from Mexico, but is currently living in New York. She'll be an interesting one to teach for sure! She's looking for truth, but basically disregards spiritual experiences as "happy natural feelings" as a result of hearing something good. We're like, "wait... no!! That's the spirit telling you what's true!" But we'll see what happens, she's cool.
Айбек (pronounced EEE-BECK) Is from Kazakhstan, where the church is actually near-nonexistent, he speaks English really well and wants to get ready for when he comes to North Carolina to do essentially a foreign exchange student program, except instead of school, it's a job. So we're going to "practice" teaching the lessons to him, so he benefits with English practice, and we benefit with teaching practice. Should be awesome.
NamFon is from Thailand, she's sooo cool! She was raised Buddhist, but attends a christian school and her aunt is a christian. She wants to know more about the loving nature of God, and how forgiveness works. We're like "well, you definitely found the right people!"
Those were the people I found, but Elder Gonzalez found a few investigators as well. Angie from France, and Fabson from Brazil. The cool thing about Fabson, is he actually asked Elder Gonzalez to teach him more about the church before Gonzalez even brought it up. Shortly after, he told Elder Gonzalez that he'd like his whole family to learn about it. We are teaching a family on Skype. How awesome is that??
We've been traveling like crazy as well, we've visited Newport, RI, Franklin, MA, Groton, CT, and Nashua, NH. No time to slow down, you know?
Chuck unfortunately cancelled his lesson for Saturday and rescheduled for tomorrow. He asked what time his mother and sister should show up to his baptism, so that's good! Haha :)
I think that's about it, we'll keep you posted on everyone's progression.
